February 01, 2013

RAWALPINDI – The Punjab Home Department has issued a notification to set up a police station in Chah Sultan, one of the city’s congested localities, in a bid to prevent increasing crime rate in the area.

The City Police Officer (CPO) Rawalpindi had sent a summary to the Punjab government in this regard keeping in view the increased population and mounting crime ratio in the area.
It was suggested to divide the jurisdiction of Waris Khan Police Station by setting up a new police station in Chah Sultan.
Station House Officer (SHO) of Waris Khan Police Station Abdul Rashid confirmed the issuance of notification and  told APP on Thursday that Punjab Chief Secretary Nasir Mehmood Khosa has directed the CPO to make necessary arrangements for setting up a new police station in the locality.
He said it was difficult for police personnel deployed at the Waris Khan Police Station to keep vigil and prevent anti-social activities in an efficient manner where the population was more than 700,000.
Abdul Rashid said the new police station would help strengthen existing patrolling mechanism, ensure timely and rapid respond to public complaints besides providing better legal assistance to people of the area. “After the new police station, a police post will also be established at the Tippu road,” he maintained.
