CTP impound over 300 bikes for wheeling

RAWALPINDI – City Traffic Police (CTP), under its grand operation launched against one-wheelers, and negligent driving, have impounded over 300 altered motorcycles especially prepared for one-wheeling.

A special campaign in this regard was recently launched by the CTP and the traffic wardens were directed to impound all altered motorcycles of one-wheelers in respective Police Station.
Chief Traffic Officer, (CTO) Superintendent Police (SP), Syed Ishtiaq Shah told this agency that during the ongoing campaign over 1000 challan slips have also been issued to the traffic rules violators besides around 100 vehicles and motorcycles, which were without proper documents have also been impounded.
He said strict orders were issued to all the traffic wardens, Inspectors, Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) of all sectors that no one should be spared and all the youngsters particularly those found moving on the city roads on altered motorcycles especially prepared for one wheeling should be impounded.
CTP is taking strict action against wheelie and several arrangements have also been made to curb the activity aimed at protecting the youngsters as one wheeling is a cause of deaths and severe injuries for the riders said City Traffic Officer (CTO). He said, action in accordance with the law is also being taken against the tinted glass vehicles. He said though the one wheelers were already being checked by traffic officials deputed on the city roads but special arrangements have been made to control rash and dangerous driving and one wheeling in the city.   
He said traffic police officers were directed to keep a vigilant eye on the one-wheelers so that action in accordance with the law could be taken against them. He said one-wheelers are not only playing with their own lives but also a threat for other road users. He said the traffic wardens have been directed to take effective measures in this regard. He urged the citizens particularly parents that they should come forward and play their role to curb the activity as one wheeling, rash and negligent driving are the main causes for fatal accidents.
