Dangling electric wires endanger residents in Rawalpindi

RAWALPINDI  - The live electric wires dangling from electric poles, and in streets and roads, in residential and commercial areas, particularly congested localities of the town, pose a serious threat to human lives, but the authorities concerned seem unmoved.
A survey conducted by this agency revealed that in most of the residential and commercial areas generally congested areas including Tench Bhatta, Peoples Colony, Bakra Mandi, Dhoke Saydian, Masrial road, Lalkurti, Amarpura, Raja Bazaar, residential areas of Committee Chowk, Buni, Akalgarh, Motti Bazaar and many other areas, the electric wires are not properly hanged.
“These dangling and uncovered power wires pose serious threats to the residents especially to the kids,” said Malik Khalid, a resident of Peoples Colony.
He said the residents of the area have submitted several applications to the concerned authorities but to no avail. Another resident pointed out that most of dangling uncovered power wires waiting an accident to happen.
The electricity service providers are fully aware of the danger but unfortunately have turned a blind eye to the problem.
The residents in Tench Bhatta said that they have been there for years and no one has ever bothered to have them covered or removed these wires.
They demanded of the authorities to take effective measures and rectify this problem to save the consumers from any untoward incident.Meanwhile,  Rawalpindi Police on Sunday arrested 24 outlaws and recovered drugs, bottle of liquor, weapon and stolen mobiles from their possession.
According to police spokesman, Taxila police held Shafique and recovered 1050-gram charas from his possession while Waris Khan police arrested Babar and recovered 1015-gram charas from him.
New Town police nabbed Asghar and recovered 115-gram charas from his custody. Taxila police held Adeel and recovered 1 bottle of liquor from his pocket.
Rawat police arrested Javed and recovered three bottle of liquor from his possession. Ganjmandi police recovered 30-bore pistol by Dawar Khan.
Rata Amral police held Mazhar and recovered 30-bore pistol along three round. Gujar Khan police arrested Ijaz and recovered 30-bore pistol along five round.
New Town police held Idrees and recovered four stolen mobile from his possession.
Police have registered separate cases against all of them and started investigation.
