Gilani files review plea in SC against disqualification

Former Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani personally appeared in the Supreme Court of Pakistan here in Islamabad on Saturday to file a review petition against his disqualification in NRO implementation case.

Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has decided to file a plea in Supreme Court of Pakistan against his conviction and disqualification by the apex court in contempt of court case.
On April 26, 2012, a seven-member bench of the apex court convicted Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani in contempt of court proceedings against him for refusing to comply with an order to write a letter to the authorities in Switzerland asking them to re-open corruption cases against President Asif Ali Zardari.
Talking to media before appearing in SC, Gilani said that he would file the plea in the court, asking the court to review his disqualification for five years to take part in the elections of the country.
“I am consulting legal experts over the issue and would appear before the court for the proceedings,” he added.
