RAWALPINDI - A weeklong drama competition in connection with Punjab Youth Festival concluded here at Rawalpindi Arts Council (RAC) on Monday.
In the closing ceremony, PML-N Senator Begum Najma Hamid, MPAs Raja Hanif Advocate, Zia Ullah Shah, Air Commodore (Retd) Naseer Ahmed and former RAC Resident Director Naheed Manzoor were the guests of honor while RAC Resident Director Waqar Ahmed, Assistant Director Sajjad Ahmed, drama artists, writers, students and teachers of various educational institutions were also present.
On the last day of festival, the students of Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU) staged a play titled “Yea Hosla Kesay Rukay”.
The Students of JS Public School and College also added the colors in the ceremony by performing cultural dances of all the four provinces. In the category of Supporting Actor/ Performer Aneeqa Gul of Khadija Umer Girls College, Rabia Javed, Government Girls College, Dhok Mangtal, Reeha from Sangam Art Academy and Kashif from Urdu University got the Awards. In the best actor category Hadya from Quaid-e-Azam University achieved the award. Best Writer award goes to Waqar Aziz from Urdu University and best director award goes to Asia Altaf of Fatima Jinnah Women University.
In general category, Quaid-e-Azam University secured 1st position, Federal Urdu University got 2nd position while Fatima Jinnah Women University remains 3rd. All the participants of Drama competition were awarded certificates while shields of excellence to the institutions. Young singers Saad, Faizan and Saadia entertain the audience by melodious songs.
Addressing at the closing ceremony, Begum Najma Hameed said that conducting of Youth Festival by RAC was an appreciable step where youth got an opportunity to explore their hidden abilities. On the direction of Chief Minister Punjab, Youth Competitions are being organised at every level and category.
She said that the motto of Punjab government was to include the young generation in the progress of the country by providing them positive and healthy activities.
Chairman Sports Rawalpindi Raja Mohammad Hanif Advocate, said that Punjab Youth Festival was the biggest festival in the history of Pakistan. He said that government was utilizing all its resources for the benefit of young generation.  MPA Zia Ullah Shah applauded the Chief Minister (CM) Punjab for organizing of Youth Festival and said that Drama Festival would highlight the social issues and role of RAC in this regard was appreciable.
Speaking on the occasion, Naheed Manzoor said RAC always played an admirable role in imparting training in the field of Art & Culture to the Youth of the region. She said a successful event of Drama Competition in connection with Punjab Youth Festival reflected the untiring efforts of the Rawalpindi Arts Council.
