ISLAMABAD – Secretary Islamabad Transport Authority (ITA), Khawaja Maqbool, conducted surprise traffic checking at various routes in the capital and challaned as many as 66 public service vehicles for violating traffic laws.
A spokesman of the local administration said that Secretary ITA conducted traffic checking at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) chowk and F-8 Markaz and impounded four public service vehicles besides imposing fine amounting to Rs 23500 on the transporters for over charging and not completing designated routes.
Secretary, ITA, Khawaja Maqbool said that traffic checking drive was under way on various city routes to ensure completion of routes and charging fixed fares by the transporters.
He also directed the transporters to ensure completion of designated routes and charge the fixed fares failing which stern action would be taken against the violators.
