ISLAMABAD  – A youth Sufi song contest would be held today (Sunday) at Lok Virsa Media Studios, Garden Avenue, Shakarparian. The contest is being held by Lok Virsa (National Institute of Folk and Traditional Heritage) in collaboration with Mehergarh NGO.  Asaf Ghafoor, Federal Secretary, Ministry of National Heritage and Integration will be the chief guest on the occasion and give away the cash awards to the winning singers.
Lok Virsa’s Executive Director, Khalid Javaid informed that the purpose of the initiative is to promote Sufism among youth. There will be three components of the programme namely launching on-line resource centre titled “Tareeqat: seven elements of living Sufism in Pakistan”, production of a documentary on ‘The Hidden Face of Pakistan’ and Sufi singing contest.
