ISLAMABAD - The weather turned pleasant after the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad received heavy rain followed by cool breeze on Sunday morning giving relief to the residents from heat wave conditions.
Most areas of Islamabad and Rawalpindi received rain, after which cool breeze started blowing, cutting the effects of load shedding. Strong winds and thick clouds engulfed the city and lashed the city with heavy downpour.
A large number of citizens thronged the parks, markets, restaurants and other recreational places to enjoy the pleasant weather. Several major markets in twin cities remained the focus of citizens, including the Super Market, Jinnah Super Market, F-8 Markaz, F-10 Markaz, Commercial Market, Melody Market and Raja Bazaar. Most citizens rushed to fast-food restaurants, hotels and food shops.
Meanwhile, parks remained the focal point of citizen to enjoy the pleasant weather. The Lake View Park, F-9 Park, Nawaz Sharif Park, Pakistan Monument, Shakarparian, Rawal Dam and Lok Virsa were crowded with people. The current spell of monsoon rains is expected to continue for the next 2 weeks.
According to Met Office the monsoon currents have started to penetrate over upper parts of Pakistan that will spread southward during mid week, giving widespread rains in the country during the week.
Meanwhile, isolated rain with thundershower has been forcast for Rawalpindi Gujranwala, Peshawar, Kohat, Malakand, Hazara, Sukkur, Larkana divisions and Kashmir during the next 24 hours, a private news channel reported. According to the MET, office the maximum temperature of 43 degree centigrade was recorded in Dalbandin on Saturday.  Maximum temperature of other major cities including Islamabad Lahore Peshawar and Quetta, 36C , Karachi and Muzaffarabad, 35C Gilgit, 38C and Murree 22C was recorded.
