JI protests Muslims’ massacre in Myanmarour staff reporter


RAWALPINDI - On the call of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Ameer Syed Munawar Hassan, JI Rawalpindi chapter observed Friday as protest day against massacre of innocent Muslims in Myanmar.
In this connection, a protest demonstration was also staged by JI activists under the leadership of District Ameer Sajjad Ahmed Abbasi here at Liaquat Bagh. The protest demonstration was attended by JI office-bearers including Shamas-ur-Rehman Swati, Syed Kaleem Gillani, Hanif Chaudhry, Raza Ahmed Shah and Syed Uzair Hamid, besides hundreds of other activists.
The protestors carrying huge-sized banner and placards mentioning words in favour of Muslim community in Myanmar and against UN and Muslim rulers blocked traffic on Benazir Bhutto Road, posing hardships for commuters.
They also chanted slogans against the Myanmar government and Muslim rulers.
Addressing the protestors, the speakers condemned ongoing bloodshed in Myanmar and also hit very hard the United Nations and other Muslim countries for keeping criminal mum over the killings of innocent Muslim women, men and children by Myanmar Army in Burma.
They said that the Muslim world should united and stop the brutal killings in Myanmar and urged OIC to convene an emergency meeting to hammer out any plan to control the situation in Myanmar.
They also demanded of Pakistan government to boycott the diplomatic relations with Myanmar government and lift its voice on international level against the Burma carnage.
Police made tight security arrangements to avoid any untoward incident on the occasion.
