Cultural Week in full swing at Lok Virsa

ISLAMABAD - The Pakistan Cultural Week celebrations are at full swing here at Lok Virsa Complex, Garden Avenue, Shakarparian, under the aegis of Federal Ministry for National Heritage & Integration in collaboration with Lok Virsa.

Over 60 master artisans in different specialized craft fields such as embroidery, wax printing, tie dye, block painting, needle work, traditional doll making, traditional toys, blue poetry, shawl weaving, ajrak, traditional bridal work, pattu weaving, lacquer work, etc. are participating in the event by way of demonstrating their skills.
Artisans had requested the Federal Minister for National Heritage & Integration for providing some financial incentive for making new innovations in their works according to the modern day requirements by acquiring essential training and holding workshops.  Taking a sympathetic view of their demands, the minister approached MD PBM Zamurad Khan and urged him for extending financial support to all artisans participating in the event. Honouring the request, the Pakistan Baitul Maal distributed cheques worth Rs 30,000 each to the artisans in a prestigious ceremony held here at Lok Virsa on Thursday. Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar, Adviser to the Prime Minister for Human Rights, was the chief guest who distributed cheques amongst the artisans.
Raheela Baloch, Minister of State for Science & Technology, Senator Rubina Khalid and MD, PBM Zamurad Khan were also present on the occasion.
