ISLAMABAD – The IJ Principal Road and 9th Avenue are in dilapidated condition due to negligence of the Capital Development Authority (CDA).Talking to INP on Sunday, the transporters on IJ Principal Road complained that the road has broken and developed ditches at many points and is causing worst traffic mess. Moreover, after the recent rains, the condition of the 9th Avenue is also very poor as the fractured road is causing road accidents. They said that ditches and cracks on the road are hampering smooth traffic flow. The IJP Road measuring seven kilometres from Peshawar Road to Fiazabad Flyover was constructed in 2004 but owing to traffic load, potholes developed at various points and uneven surface of the road is troublesome to transporters. Moreover, IJP Road is link road between Rawalpindi and Islamabad, besides traffic coming from general bus stand, fruit and vegetable market use the same road. It was estimated that over 100,000 vehicles use IJP Road on daily basis. The route has caved in at different points which contribute to traffic jam during most part of the day and uneven surface results in accidents. The right of way on both sides of the IJP Road was occupied by illegal kiosks, shops and illegal transport terminals in connivance with corrupt officials of the civic body.On the other hand, CDA has not issued any maintenance fund for the road since 2004. The road directorate of the civic body had forwarded the expansion and upgardation of the road to planning wing but the project was in doldrums due red tapism.Citizens demanded Chairman CDA Syed Tahir Shahbaz to take keen interest in public welfare projects and ensure early re-carpeting and reconstruction of IJP Road and 9th Avenue in the federal capital on priority basis.Online adds: Rawalpindi District Courts is in bad shape due to loose security measures, garbage and other problems. Walkthrough gates erected for surveillance of subversive content have also gone haywire, while common cases of on-spot firing have also added to insecurity of more than 3000-4000 of daily litigants. Police personnel deployed for security can be observed toying around with their mobile phones, while there are no guards at entrances, exits, either. Worsening and lacking situation of parking vehicles also compounds the problems. The litigants, masses have strongly protested over such inclement situation, demanding immediate rectification of the situation.
