RAWALPINDI - A court sent the five police officers, who were arrested by Saddar Berooni police while they were gambling, to Adyala Jail on judicial remand of 14-day on Monday.Area Magistrate/Civil Judge Faisal Rasheed sent five police officers including Assistant Superintendent Adyala Jail, Abdul Hameed Bhatti, Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Hafeez Ullah, Jamshaid Nawaz, Basharat Maseh and Ashraf Maseh to Adyala Jail on judicial remand. Police Station (PS) Saddar Berooni officials produced all the gamblers before the court.Two days ago, PS Saddar Berooni, on a tip-off conducted a raid on a gambling den near Adyala Jail and nabbed six gamblers. Police also recovered Rs 7,500 cash, 4 mobile phones, a motorcycle and cards from their possession. During the interrogation it was revealed that one of the gamblers Abdul Hameed Bhatti was performing duty in Adyala Jail as Assistant Superintendent while another was ASI Hafeez Ullah. However, a constable Zahid Mehmood managed to escape during police raid. Meanwhile, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Prisons North Malik Shaukat Ferooz suspended Assistant Superintendent Adyala Jail Abdul Hameed Bhatti. Bhatti faced the brunt after being caught red handed by Saddar Berooni police while playing cards and using cash in a gambling den near Adyala Jail.
