RCB constructing 7 water storage tanks

RAWALPINDI (Online) – Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) is constructing seven water tanks to control scarcity of water in Cantonment area and enforce rationing of water.

Chief Executive Officer, Rawalpindi Cantonment Board, Rana Manzoor Ahmed in an interview has said that the Cantonment Board, with a total cost of Rupees 690m, is building water tanks for rationing of 2 lac gallons of water, in the areas of Aliabad, Jhanda Cheechi, Adyala Road, Harley Street, Adrah, and Dhok Chaudhrian.
The construction of water tanks in Aliabad, Jhanda Cheechi, Adyala Road and Harley Street has been completed. The water tank in Aliabad has been given water connection and has started its operation. Tanks in Adrah and Dhok Chaudhrian are under construction and will be completed soon. CEO Rawalpindi Cantonment Board, Rana Manzoor said these water tanks would greatly help in dealing with water-crisis, such that water would be stored to manage extra slots of water supply. He also said Rawalpindi Cantonment Board is still meeting the needs of areas where supply of water is short.
Supply of water from Khanpur Dam to Rawalpindi Cantonment area is 50 percent lesser than the requirement, and has been reduced to 7.5 million gallons daily.
This quantity of water is insufficient for meeting the demands of the local residents. It is expected that the construction of these tanks will improve the current situation.
