Sale of poor quality flour on the rise

RAWALPINDI (Online) – With the connivance of Food Department, sale of substandard smuggled flour is on rise in Rawalpindi, causing different abdominal diseases in the citizens.

Traders have purchased the flour on low price and are selling it in market on open market rates while the food department is playing the role of silent spectator.
The business is on rise in different parts of the Cantonment Board and city, including Saddar Bazaar,  Hathi Chowk, Chotta Bazaar , Afandy colony, Sadiqabad , Pir Wadhi and Dhoke Hassau while the citizens who are purchasing the flour are forced to visit hospital due to different abdominal diseases.
“Profiteers are selling poor quality smuggled flour on high rates after paying bribes to food inspectors”, a group of residents said. The citizens appealed to the health department to take stern action against traders involved in this business.
