MQM always respects judiciary: Farooq Sattar

Deputy Convener of the Co-ordination Committee of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Dr. Farooq Sattar said the party chief Altaf Hussain cannot appear before the court owing to the unavoidable circumstances.

Talking to media outside the Supreme Court (SC) before going to the courtroom, he said a petition has already been filed for the exemption of Altaf Hussain from court’s appearance, adding the party leaders came to the court as Altaf Hussain’s representatives.
The Muttahida gives always precedence to the respect of judiciary, he added saying experts on law and the Constitution will present Altaf Hussain’s arguments before the bench and it is hoped all the issues are amicably resolved.
The head of the MQM’s panel of lawyers Faroogh Naseem said the leaders of the country’s political parties are beset with myriads of threats for last five years, adding basing on such reasons, the court has been requested to exempt Altaf Hussain from appearance.
