DPC stages demo against Nato supplies restoration

RAWALPINDI - On the call of Difa-e-Pakistan Council (DPC), a protest demonstration was staged by a large number of people in the city against reopening of NATO supply line to Afghanistan on Friday.
According to details, more than 200 people gathered on Mall Road and staged a demonstration after Friday prayers despite the sizzling heat and humidity.
Led by trader’s representative, Zahid Baktawari, the protestors were carrying placards and banners mentioning slogans against federal government and USA. The protesters chanted full-pitched slogans against PPP led government and its allies. They also demanded to halt the NATO supply line, which had been blocked by the government after Salala check post incident.
Addressing protestors, Zahid Bakhtawari condemned the federal government for opening the NATO supply line for western troops stationed in Afghanistan. He said that the restoration of the NATO supplies was a well thought out international conspiracy aimed at cornering Pakistan and to punish the people for supporting those resisting the US aggression against Muslim world.  He said that rulers had sacrificed the national independence and sovereignty for the US interest in clear violation of the national consensus and parliament’s unanimous resolutions.  During the entire episode, the traffic remained blocked on busiest Mall Road, posing hardships for the commuters and pedestrians.
