ISLAMABAD - Alleging that business tycoon Malik Riaz is a favourite of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Federal Information Minster Qamar Zaman Kaira has said the matter of Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry’s son Arsalan Iftikhar was sub judice.“The federal government has nothing to do with it, but the PML-N is cashing in on the situation,” he said while replying to questions on the issue at a press conference Wednesday. “Malik Riaz has helped the Punjab CM launch Ashiana Housing Scheme” the minister added.Kaira said the Pakistan Muslim League-N-led movement against power shortage was aimed at fanning hatred among the federating units.He said: “The Sharif brothers are stoking provincialism on the basis of such issues as have already been resolved after the 18th amendment. They couldn’t sustain pressure due to their bad governance and fell back on the 90s-like ‘Jaag Punjabi Jaag’ mantra, but the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) does not want confrontation.”Leader of the Opposition in National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has personal grudge with Malik Riaz and he should settle such issues in Punjab, he said.Nisar should move the court against Malik Riaz’s corruption, if any. “Such allegations had also been levelled against the prime minister’s sons but the federal government did not term it a conspiracy against it,” he added.Responding to a question, the minister said the Punjab government should provide security to former president of the Supreme Court Bar Association Asma Jehangir.
