Indi a is deploying additional 10,000 troops in Kashmir, which has been engulfed in week-long protests triggered by a dispute between Hindus and Muslims over allotment of land for Hindu pilgrims. At least nine people have been killed and hundreds more injured in the unrest that has gripped the region. The protests sparked when the government decided to transfer 100-acre land for a Hindu shrine trust so that shelter could be built for the pilgrims. More troops are being deployed to assist the Para-military troops and police. All party delegation would visit the valley on Friday to assess the current situation.
