LPINDI - City Police Officer (CPO) Rawalpindi Rao Muhammad Iqbal has directed to establish special Anti Car Lifting Cell (ACLC) at all the police stations to thwart the growing number of car lifting cases.
The CPO issued these directions in a meeting held at the CPO office here on Thursday. Senior Superintendent Police (Operations) Yaseen Farooq, Superintendent Police (SPs), SDPOs and SHOs attended the meeting.
During the meeting, CPO directed police officials to adopt proper measures to discourage the increasing trend of car theft cases. He also directed use of all available resources to combat vehicle theft.
Rao Iqbal said that strict action would be taken against the Station House Officer (SHO) who failed in stopping car-lifting incidents in his area.
Meanwhile, on the directives of City Police Officer (CPO) a search operation was conducted in the jurisdiction of Airport Police Station (PS). The operation was supervised by the Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) operation Yasin Farooq while other law enforcement agencies and ladies police also took part in the operation.
During the operation, 228 houses were searched, 940 persons were interrogated and 27 suspected were arrested.
The search operation was carried out Rehmatabad, Gharibabad and the adjoining areas. Police also arrested 8 accused and recovered 3 pistols, 83 rounds, 4 bottles of liquor and 455 gram hashish and registered separate cases against all of them.
