PM Ashraf writes letter to SC for independent investigation of RPP case

Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf has written a letter to the Supreme Court of Pakistan stating that an independent investigation should be conducted into allegations against him in the Rental Power Projects (RPP) case.

According to sources, the prime minister has requested that an independent investigation commission headed by Shoaib Suddle be formed. Sources further add that Prime Minister Ashraf consulted his legal aides particularly Law Minister Naek prior to sending the letter to the Supreme Court.
In his letter the prime minister wrote that corruption allegations against him were a point of disgrace for the country and he had never tried to influence NAB or any other institution.
Prime Minister Ashraf who was the then Water and Power Minister along with 15 others have been accused in the RPP scam case.
