RAWALPINDI - Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) has confiscated four trucks loaded with goods from different city markets in its campaign against encroachments while 40 shopkeepers were also imposed fines amounting to Rs 50,000.
The anti-encroachment operation has further been intensified aimed at providing relief to the citizens visiting city markets as Eid shopping is gaining momentum here day by day and great rush of people is being witnessed in all markets of the town. According to TMA, Rawal Town Spokesman, the grand clean-up operation against encroachments is underway in the city and under instructions of the Rawal Town Administrator Saif Anwar Jappa, it has been accelerated.
The spokesman said that the city markets are regularly being visited and staff concerned conducting raids at main markets of the town. Four truckloads were confiscated from Iqbal Road, Liaquat Road, Raja Bazaar, Sadiqabad, Muslim Town, Dingi Khoi, Jamia Masjid Road, Bara Bazaar and other markets.
The vendors who are found selling their products while displaying on footpaths and different city roads are imposed fines with warnings, he said.
The administrator has also issued special directives to the authorities concerned that the report of anti-encroachment operation should be submitted on daily basis with performance report of anti-encroachment inspectors. He said that strict action would be taken against those violating the orders.
