Employees protest unequal rise in travel allowance

ISLAMABAD  – Non-gazetted employees serving in the federal government institutions have protested the unequal rate of increase in their traveling allowance.
According to the employees serving in Grade-1 to Grade-10, the percentage rise in their traveling allowance is much lesser as compared to that of the gazetted officers.
They informed the traveling allowance of the non-gazette employees have been raised from Rs 1150 to Rs 1500 while there is a 101 percent increase in the allowance of the employees of Grade-16 to Grade-19.
Previously the traveling allowance of Grade-16 to Grade-19 officers was Rs 2480 and now it has reached Rs 5000 mark, the non-gazetted employees noted.
They have requested Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf and Finance Minister Dr Abdul Hafeez Sheikh to review the office memorandum issued on July 3, 2012 and to increase the traveling allowance without discrimination.
