Sessions courts shifting after 15th

RAWALPINDI - The sessions courts would be shifted to Judicial Complex constructed in accordance with international standards after September 15.  All the accountability courts will be moved to District Courts Rawalpindi from September 20 after shifting sessions courts to the complex.Earlier, sessions judges’ court was set up in a building, which was hired by the Punjab government on rent and was not accessible to consumers. Similarly, several other courts were set up separately, causing inconveniences to lawyers and litigants.Besides accountability courts, special judge central, customs, consumer and drug courts would also be shifted to District Courts Rawalpindi. The complex contains around 52 well-furnished and central air-conditioned courts, which were constructed in accordance with international standard. The newly constructed Judicial Complex was inaugurated on July 16 by chief justice of the Supreme Court. On the other hand, lawyers’ community and citizens have expressed concerns over non-shifting of several courts including four accountability courts and local courts in the judicial complex, adding that free and speedy justice would be provided to consumers, in case all the courts were shifted in the complex.
