Woman among three drug peddlers arrested




RAWALPINDI – Police foiled a bid to smuggle huge quantity of charas and opium in the city and arrested three drug peddlers including a lady smuggler.Some 15-kg of charas and 1-kg opium have been recovered by officials of Police Station Naseerabad from three smugglers identified as Nazar Gull, Sabira and Sadaqat while cases were registered against them, informed police spokesman here on Saturday.According to him, acting on a tip-off that smugglers would smuggle huge quantity of narcotics in the city, a police party led by SHO PS Naseerabad Jamil Akhter and Sub-Inspector (SI) Imran Abbas placed special Nakas. During checking, police arrested Nazar Gull and recovered 1,350 grams of Charas from his possession; nabbed Sabira and seized 1100 grams of Charas from her and held one Saqadat on account of carrying 1100 grams of Opium. Separate cases have been filed against the smugglers and investigation was started, police spokesman added.Meanwhile, PS Kalar Syedan officials have apprehended a gang of four robbers who had allegedly robbed the house of a Patwari (revenue officer) looting gold, laptops and other stuff at Pindora Hardo. The arrest was made at Chowa Khalsa by a police party led by Sub Inspector (SI) Muhammad Idrees, also the investigation officer of the case, and weapons were also recovered.SI Idrees, when contacted, told that the four intruders hit the house of a Patwari Hassan Akhter located at Pindora Hardo on 3/2/2013 and swiped 35 tolas of gold, laptops and other precious households. Police, after filing a case on the complaint of victim house owner, launched investigation and at last traced the robbers. “At the time of raid, the robbers were sitting at Chowa Khalsa and planning to commit a robbery somewhere” he said adding that police recovered 4 pistols of 30 bore and 18 bullets.The dacoits identified as Ghulam Hussain of Faisalabad, Afzal and Zafar Iqbal hail from Sargodha and Abdul Rehman, resident of Islamabad. Police were busy in investigation, he added.
