RAWALPINDI - A 35-year-old cab driver was found dead at Thalian Bridge near Motorway with a bullet mark into his head here on Tuesday.
Some locals noticed him lying dead near Thalian Bridge and informed Police Chowky Girja officials, controlled by Police Station (PS) Saddar Bairooni. Taking action, police rushed to the scene and took the dead body into custody and shifted it to District Headquarter Hospital (DHQ) for postmortem.
The deceased was later identified as Iqbal Muhammad son of Sher Zaman, a resident of Peshawar.
According to Sub Inspector Lal Hussain Shah, who also investigating the case, the deceased was a cab driver and plied his Corolla XLI (U-Peshawar 5354) from Torkham to Peshawar. Some unknown persons hired his cab a day earlier from Peshawar to Islamabad. However, they killed him while firing a bullet into his head and threw the dead body near Thalian Bridge.
The assailants also took away the car after murdering him, he added. Police recovered dead body on the information of locals, he said.
A murder case has been registered against the unidentified killers while further interrogation was under way, Hussain Shah maintained. The dead body was handed over to the heirs after postmortem.
On a query, he replied that police found a mobile phone from the pocket of deceased, got the data from it and sent for getting his call records. “I hope police reach soon to the killers through mobile data” he said.
