Swiss letter: Law minister says Zardari’s trial is out of question

Federal Law Minister on Wednesday said that no trial of President Asif Ali Zardari would be held as a result of writing letter to Swiss authorities to reopen cases against him.

The Supreme Court on Wednesday approved the amended draft of the letter to be written to Swiss government during a hearing of the NRO implementation case.
A five-judge bench of the apex court, headed by Justice Asif Saeed Khosa, okayed the draft presented by the Federal Law Minister Farooq H. Naek.
The bench directed the government to send the letter within four weeks.
Later, speaking to media representatives, the confident Naek said no one’s trial would be held after the letter to Swiss government. “President Zardari’s trial is out of the question since his immunity has been mentioned in the new draft.”
“No wealth of the nation was looted. Can anybody tell me where it is now?” Naek questioned while answering queries of newsmen about bringing back the money from alleged foreign accounts of the rulers.
“Neither was there cases against this government nor there will be in the future,” the minster claimed.
