Federal Textile Minister Makhdoom Shahabuddin Monday filed a plea in the Supreme Court of Pakistan seeking pre-arrest bail in the ephedrine quota case.

He argued that ephedrine case was registered by the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) on October 10. But nine months later, proceedings were suddenly initiated against him just a day before his nomination as a candidate for the office of prime minister. Subsequently, an arrest warrant was also issued, he added.
The minister said that a conspiracy was being hatched against him.
It may be noted here that Shahabuddin and Musa Gilani, son of former premier Yousuf Raza Gilani, were declared as absconders last week.
