135 street criminals nabbed in year 2012

ISLAMABAD - Islamabad Police have arrested 135 persons involved in street crimes during the current year and recovered 121 mobile phones and looted cash from their possession, a police spokesman said on Sunday.

Police launched a campaign against those involved in street crimes and arrested 135 criminals. The SSP Islamabad Muhammad Yousuf Malik directed all SDPOs and SHOs to ensure effective patrolling in their jurisdictions and take stern action against the anti-social elements. During this year, Islamabad Police also arrested 79 gamblers during various raids in the city and recovered stake money and other items worth hundreds of thousands of rupees from them.
The SSP has also directed to ensure vigilance against the suspects and make effective checking at all entry and exit points of the city. “It is our prime responsibility to ensure protection to the lives and property of the citizens.
Those police officials involved in dereliction of duties or adopting sluggish attitude would not be spared and strict disciplinary action would be taken against them,” the SSP said.
