RAWALPINDI – The armed gangs of robbers and dacoits remained on looting spree in various parts of the city on Wednesday, as they snatched a bike from a man and purse from a woman containing gold ornaments, cash, mobile phones and other valuables at gunpoint.
Following the footsteps of the armed bandits, the carjackers also pilfered 5 vehicles and a motorcycle from different localities of the district.
Taking action on the complaints of the victims, police recorded cases and launched investigation with no arrest or recovery so far.
According to details, a citizen Shohaib Majeed lodged a complaint with Police Station (PS) Westridge that he was heading towards his home on his motorcycle Honda CD-70 (RIL-5401) when three muggers carrying sophisticated weapons intercepted him. Later, the robbers snatched motorcycle, cash and mobile phone on gunpoint and fled, he mentioned in the application.
Similarly, two unknown dacoits deprived a woman namely Nasreen Bibi from her hand bag containing Rs 52,000 cash, a gold bangle and ear tops on gunpoint in the precinct of PS Ratta Amral.
A citizen Reshwan Safdar Malik told PS New Town officials that he along with his wife went for shopping when two robbers riding on a bike arrived and held them hostage at gunpoint. Later, the criminals snatched Rs 900, a gold bracelet and mobile phones and ran away.
On the other hand, auto-theft gangs had taken away five cars and a motorcycle from various parts of the city.
According to details, a Mehran car (LEB-602) owned by Mian Abdul Anan was stolen from Raja Ibad Link Road the limits of PS Westridge; Hondae Centro Plus (IDK-8210) of Muhammad Azam Farooqi has been pilfered from Scheme-III the area of PS Airport; Javed Iqbal’s Mehran car bearing registration number LEC-4718 was picked up from the precinct of PS Waris Khan and Honda Car (HX-442) owned by Wilayat Ali was taken away by unidentified robbers from Asghar Mall Scheme, the vicinity controlled by PS Banni.  In Taxila, the muggers also had stolen Suzuki carry van (LHM-9103) of Tanveer Hussain. A citizen Amir Rasheed told PS New Town officials that his motorcycle RIY-3470 was pinched by some vehicle lifters.
Police taken up the cases against the outlaws on the complaints of the victims and started investigation.
