ISLAMABAD - Senators Saeda Iqbal, Saeed Ghani, Muhammad Ali Rind and Abdul Nabi Bangash Monday were elected chairpersons of four Senate standing and functional committees.Elections of the Senate Standing and Functional Committees were held here at Parliament House and proceedings were conducted by Secretary Senate Iftikhar Ullah Babar while chief whip Senator Islamudddin Sheikh also played an active role in the smooth execution of proceedings.All of the four chairpersons were elected unopposed as no other senator presented himself/herself as candidate for the office of chairman of any committee.Senator Saeeda Iqbal was elected chairperson of Senate Standing Committee on Climate Change. Her name was proposed by Senator Surriya Amiruddin while Heman Dass seconded. Thus she was elected as the chairperson of the committee.Name of Senator Saeed Ghani was proposed by Hidayat Ullah and seconded by Kalsoom Parveen for the office of chairman Senate Functional Committee on Government Assurance as there was no other candidate for the said office and he was elected unopposed.Senator Muhammad Ali Rind was elected chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on National Harmony. Mohsin Leghari proposed while Senator Heman Dass seconded his name. Similarly, Senator Shirala Malik proposed and Heman Dass was seconder of Senator Abdul Nabi Bangash for the office of chairman Standing Committee on Professional and Technical Training.
