Supreme Court (SC) on Wednesday granted pre-arrest bail to Federal Minister for Textile Industries Makhdoom Shahabuddin in ephedrine quota case.
It should be mentioned here that Makhdoom Shahabuddin moved the apex court against a verdict of a two-member bench of Lahore High Court (LHC) that dismissed his bail plea.
In the bail appeal filed on his behalf by Sardar Ishaq Advocate, Shahab prayed he was being subjected to political vendetta.
Makhdoom Shahabuddin argued, “Though Ephedrine case was registered by the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) on October 10, but nine months later, proceedings were suddenly initiated against him just a day before his nomination as Prime Minister.”
He submitted that subsequently an arrest warrant was also issued, adding a conspiracy was being hatched against him.
