RAWALPINDI – The Rawalpindi District and Lahore High Court Bars Association have banned the entry of Zahid Hussain Bukhari, counsel for real estate tycoon Malik Riaz Hussain, for supporting Malik who has levelled serious allegations against Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry at a press conference.The bar associations also decided that no lawyer would contest any case of Bahria Town Chief Executive Malik Riaz Hussain in Rawalpindi and the lawyers would also assemble outside Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) today (Thursday) to express solidarity with the honourable judges on the occasion of proceeding of contempt of court case against property tycoon Malik Riaz.The black coats took these decisions at a joint meeting of District Bar Association (DBA) and Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) held at DBA.The meeting was attended by LHCBA President Sheikh Ahsan-ud-Din, General Secretary Raheel Khan, DBA President Sajid Ilyas Bhatti, Secretary General Imran Ali Malik and other senior lawyers.Addressing the meeting, the lawyers’ representatives denounced the outburst of Malik Riaz Hussain against the CJP, saying the lawyers would foil all the conspiracies against the apex court and country’s top judicator Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry. All the lawyers would reach the Constitutional Avenue outside SCP to convey a strong message that all the bar associations of the country were standing along with CJP and SCP. They said that the entry of Zahid Hussain Bukhari, the lawyer of Malik Riaz, has been banned for taking side of the property tycoon who had divulged against Justice Iftikhar at a press briefing.They said that Malik Riaz was not alone in this dirty game rather some other forces were also hand in gloves with him to malign the apex court. They said that the black coats were with SCP Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry during this hard time and would also render ay kind of sacrifice to save the judiciary.The lawyers expressed their reservation that cases of missing persons and that of against the defiant Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani could be one of the reasons of the ongoing attack on the judges.Black coats, in the meeting, also criticised Dr Arslan Iftikhar for earning bad name to his father and for not behaving cautiously while doing his business. Later, a large number of lawyers staged a protest demonstration at busiest Katchehri Chowk and blocked all the roads for vehicular movement for hours. The violent lawyers bellowed slogans against Malik Riaz and in favour of CJP.On the other hand, Jammat-e-Islami (JI) city chapter also took out a protest rally at Committee to express solidarity with SCP and CJP. The participants including Raza Ahmed Shah demanded action against Bahria Town owner Malik Riaz Hussain for mudslinging against the country’s apex court and other honorable judges.
