RAWALPINDI – Putting lives of the residents in danger, owners of restaurants, hotels and factories of eatables in thickly populated areas have installed compressors to suck gas from main supply lines with alleged connivance of the officials of district administration and the gas company.

Lives and properties of the residents are on a grave risk as the compressors are equivalent to bombs and can cause great damages if explode.
Moreover, the devices suck gas from main gas pipelines, causing low gas pressure in the surrounding areas.
Residents of different areas in the city, talking to INP, said that the concerned officials of Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited (SNGPL) were taking Rs1,000 to 3,000 monthly from each restaurant and food factories to ignore the matter. They said that even district government officials were not taking any action against the illegal activity and only giving lip service about the matter.
They said that the gas supply company was providing low gas pressure and the hotel, restaurants and edibles factories owners were further adding to their woes by installing the compressors.
The residents demanded of the high-ups of the district administration and SNGPL to take effective measures to check the installation of compressors by owners of hotels, restaurants and food factories.
