RAWALPINDI – The Quality Enhancement Cell at Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU) organized a one-day workshop on ‘Implementation of Course Files: A Step toward Teaching Quality Education’ here on Thursday.
She said that it’s the first session of this workshop in which the implementation of course outlines were discussed. Faculty members from different departments of the university participated in the workshop and shared their experiences and ideas with their colleagues. The workshop on implementation of course files was aimed at enhancing the importance of course files in higher education.
While speaking, Alia Jawad said that significance of creating and maintaining a repository of materials was the first and the foremost part of organizing your courses. It leaded to quality teaching in a global perspective and continuous course development.
Components of course outline and the marks distribution criterion was also discussed during the workshop. She said that maintenance of course file/portfolio acts as a source for continuous improvement of an existing curriculum as well as enables instructors to think and plan ahead of time.
Different small activities were also the part of workshop in which Faculty members participated and shared their ideas.
She said that if we do not maintain a course file/portfolio we may forget or misplace a number of creative & effective teaching strategies. So a good course file/portfolio may include all relevant data, which could become the basis of evaluation for the course as well as the instructor. She was of the view that course components do not include teaching material but it also includes supporting material such as how to use the equipment.
The response of the audience was very positive towards the implementation of course files for the betterment of the students. At the end of the workshop certificates were distributed among the participants of the workshop.
