ISLAMABAD – A one-day photographic and art exhibition focusing on the panoramic world of old civilisations and modern societies clicked by young students was held here at Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Institute of Science and Technology (SZABIST).Around sixty photographs taken by students of SZABIST’s Media & Communication Studies (MCS) were put on display. The exhibition titled “Discover Pakistan” brought to light through lens of the camera some really colourful, enchanting and stimulating insights of the society, such as scenic beauty, tourist destinations, archaeological sites and rich culture of all five provinces.On the other hand, a wide range of paintings, landscapes, and sketches depicting dark and bright face of Pakistan were also a great source of attraction for visitors. The photographic and art exhibition was a part of the students curriculum which required them to visit, Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Murree, Gilgit and Peshawar and came up with variety of eye-catching and emotionally and appealing photographs and paintings.Visitors of the exhibition appreciated the creativity of all the student photographers and painters but the center of their attention become a photograph “Hide and seek” by Amna Khan a student of MCS. The photograph fascinated a lot of visitors as they could experience the supreme creators art captured in the picture.Ali Hassan a student of MCS said, “I have been clicking pictures since the last 10 years but learning the intricacies of photography has been very interesting and full of fun here at the campus. This is the first time that my photographs have been exhibited and our work being appreciated by so many people”.Campus Head SZABIST Dr Bakhtiar Alisaid that SZABIST is actively working to harness the artistic skills of its students. He said that photography is an in born talent and the photographer through his/her lens shows the people some things, which they might not have been able to see otherwise. He said that the way these students have captured different cultural norms, problems, ideologies and thoughts of a common man is undoubtedly admirable.
