ICT collects Rs 4,50,000 fine from profiteers

ISLA MABAD - Islamabad Capital Territory Administration has further intensified the ongoing drive against the profiteering and in this regard monitoring teams headed by the magistrates had imposed a fine amounting Rs 4,50,000 on 900 profiteers during the month of Ramazan. Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Amer Ali Ahmed has told that ICT administration was providing maximum relief to the consumers during the holy month of Ramazan on different food items. ICT Administration had introduced a Special Ramazan Relief Package, which was being implemented along with setting up sasta bazars and fair price shops for providing certain food items at the cheaper rates to the consumers. Amer Ali Ahmed told that 15 to 20 percent relief was being provided on the essential food items available in the sasta bazars and at the fair price shops in urban and rural areas of the city and the citizens have greatly appreciated the steps taken by the ICT Administration. The administration has also launched a crack down against the profiteers and so far 900 profiteers have been imposed heavy fines amounting Rs 4,50,000. Deputy Commissioner told that strict vigilance on the prices of essential commodities would be exercised in order to ensure the availability of food items at the control rate. Amer Ali Ahmed further told the supply of 20-kg flour bags at the rate of Rs 300 has been further improved in the city and rural areas with the increase of flour.
