ISLAMABAD – The Muslims across the country, and world over, observed Jumatul Wida, last Friday of the holy month of Ramazan with religious reverence and zeal.
The Youm-al-Quds is also observed annually on the last Friday of Ramazan to oppose Israel’s control over Jerusalem. A huge number of followers visited mosques to offer prayers with respect and honour as the day bears key importance for the Muslims.
Ulema and Mashaikh delivered lectures on the importance of Ramazan and urge the followers to tread the path of Allah and the Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) and fully act upon the teachings of Islam. Special prayers were offered for the prosperity of and solidarity among the Muslims as well as unity of the Ummah.
In their sermons `khateebs’ belonging to different schools of thought highlighted the importance of fasting, `Shab-e-Qadr’ and the practice of `Aitekaf’.
They led prayers for progress, prosperity and peace in the country.
The Prophet Mohammad said: “Allah Almighty forgives the sins committed between two Fridays of the one who performs his Friday Namaaz regularly”. Friday is like day of Eid for Muslims because there are much similarity between Eid and Friday. On both days Muslims offer prayer 2 Rakat namaz and they listen Khutbah of Immam. Both Namaz can not be Qaza.
The Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) said” the first person who enter the mosque for Friday prayer will get the reward of the charity of a camel, the second person will be rewarded with the charity of a cow, the third person will receive the reward the charity of a sheep, the fourth person the charity of a chicken, the fifth person charity of an egg”.
