IGP directs cops to ensure effective policing

ISLAMABAD - Utterly alarmed by growing number of incidents of robbery and car-lifting, inspector general of police on Sunday directed lazy police officials to mend their ways and ensure effective policing with efforts to provide relief to citizens and curb crime in their jurisdictions.

Fresh instructing came by the IGP Islamabad on Sunday during a meeting held here to review the performance of various circles of Islamabad police and station house officers. The SSP Islamabad Muhammad Yousuf Malik briefed the IGP regarding crime situation and policing affairs in the city after which the IGP reviewed the performance of Sub-Divisional Police Officers and SHOs one by one and made them directions for improving performance.
AIG (Operations) Tahir Alam Khan, SSP Islamabad Muhammad Yousuf Malik, SSP (Traffic) Dr Moeen Masood, SP (Saddar) Sajid Kiyani, SP (City) Muhammad Ilyas, SP (Rural) Faisal Bashir Memon, SP (Industrial Area) Ishaq Warraich, SP (Investigation) Ch Liaqat, all SDPOs and SHOs were present on the occasion. While reviewing the performance of SHOs, the IGP said that disciplinary action would be taken against SHOs of Industrial Area, Kohsar, and Aabpara police stations for their sluggish attitude. He also appreciated the performance of SHO Margallah Police Station Hussain Muhammad Lasi for effective crackdown against the absconders and ensuring the arrest of several such criminals. He categorically asked all SHOs to launch massive crackdown against those involved in running gambling den, immoral activities or selling narcotics in their respective areas.
Arrest of criminals involved in such heinous crimes must be ensured, he maintained. The IGP said that an effective strategy is vital to control crime and also ordered to adopt a professional as well as responsible attitude to mitigate the sufferings of the people. 
IGP Islamabad Bani Amin Khan also categorically asked to focus on resolving the public complaints, and take every possible step to provide maximum relief to citizens.
He directed all SHOs to provide maximum relief to citizens and do not delay in registration of FIRs.
He said those police officials responsible in delaying the registration of cases and doing sluggish investigation would not be spared and strict disciplinary action would be taken against them. The IGP said that he will not tolerate corruption and to purge those police officials from the force involved in corrupt practices. He also directed all police officials performing duties at police stations to improve their performance and address the grievances of the masses on immediate basis following the merit to win the confidence and support of the people for the cops’ department.


He stressed for speedy disposal of cases, investigation purely on merit and earliest arrest of criminals involved in various crime cases.
Bani Yamin Khan also directed the police officials to brief their staff at the police pickets and keep them alert to avoid any untoward incident. He said that corrupt practices will not be tolerated at these points and SPs, SHO will be inquired in case of any compliant in this regard.
