RAWALPINDI  - The citizens have expressed grave concerns over the presence of large number of cattle in the city despite ban that is creating severe problems and unhygienic conditions for the residents.
It has been learnt that the most affected areas include Arya Mohallah, Javed Colony, Muslim Town, Pandora Market and some other parts of the city.
Talking to this agency, the residents of these localities said that the court had ordered the removal of buffaloes and cows from the city areas but the orders were implemented for a few months as dairy animals were shifted to rural areas. However, these animals were brought back to the city areas after few months with the connivance of the municipal staff.
“We are troubled to the maximum degree by the presence of dairy animals and their dung in streets makes stinky smell and unhygienic environment,” residents added.
They said the animals’ wastes also block small channels of Nullah Leh that cause flooding during rains.
They alleged that some influential people are supporting the owners of dairy animals and not allowing the local administration to take any action against them.
The citizens have demanded of the Punjab chief minister Shahbaz Sharif to take immediate notice of presence of dairy animals and direct civic body to remove them from the city as per law.
