ISLAMABAD - International training workshop, titled La main a la pate - Hands on (Inquiry-Based Science Learning), was held here on Wednesday at Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF).
More than 30 teachers from different schools of Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Karachi and Kot Addu participated in the workshop. LAMAP associated schools also visited and hand on practice by the students was observed.
Welcoming all the participants of workshop, Dr Soomro said it was a pleasure to see the teachers benefiting from this workshop.
The chairman appreciated the efforts of Academy of Sciences, France and PSF Scientists for organising the workshop. He also appreciated the mutual efforts of the PSF and French Embassy to promote science at primary standards level. He congratulated the teacher for continuing LAMAP activities in their schools and teachers who have trained their colleague and teachers of surrounding areas’ schools as well.
PSF has initiated the “La Main a La Pate” - the Inquiry-Based Learning programme in Pakistan with the support of French Embassy.
This programme focuses on the teaching of science in primary schools to develop the questioning attitude of children during experiments.
The first international teachers training workshop was held in Islamabad from October 25-30, 2010, and French experts Michel Ouliac and Patrick Marcel from LAMAP programme of France imparted training to teachers from 27 schools of Rawalpindi and Islamabad and Science Caravan staff.
The second international training workshop for Pakistani teachers on Inquiry Based Science Education was organised from April 25 to 4 May 2011 at Islamabad and the same French experts conducted this training programme.
