RAWALPINDI – Commissioner Rawalpindi Division, Imdad Ullah Bosal has ordered to stop the district government’s drive of shifting dangerous and unregistered factories out of the residential areas of the city.
According to sources, a delegation of Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industries (RCCI) called on the commissioner and expressed their reservations on the operation. The delegations asked the commissioner to give some time to the factory owners to make the security and safety arrangements, on which Imdad ordered to halt the operation. He delegation assured that the factory owners would arrange emergency exits and stairs and fire extinguishing instruments in due time, adding if anyone failed in managing the safety measures, he might be punished.
Meanwhile, some persons in Khadda Market, Khayaban-e-Sir Syed, stopped the inspection team of the district government from inspecting the factories in the area for safety and security measures the other day.
Source told INP that six members of the team including DDO Enterprise, Saeed Toor, TOR Rawal Town and Aftab Chohan visited the market regarding the operation against factories without safety measures but were stopped by some individuals in the area.
It is pertinent to mention here that the district government had started the drive to push the factories in the residential areas without adequate safety measures out of the city and constituted a team in this connection but the team could not succeed in shifting even a single factory out of the residential areas.
