ISLAMABAD - Former AJK Prime Minister, Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhary, said on Monday that Pakistan would have to take wise and courageous decisions about the future of Kashmir in view of the important changes in the region especially when the US is likely to withdraw troops from Afghanistan.
Sultan, also a central leader of PPP (Azad Kashmir), said that the US was trying to come out of Afghanistan so that there was a need to take wise decisions.
Welcoming the Pak-Afghan-Iran Summit, he said that Kashmiri would support each and every effort, which was for the solidarity of Pakistan and liberation of Kashmiris.
He said that increasing influence of India in Afghanistan was reflective of the fact that it was Pakistan specific while resolution of the US Congress on Balochistan was a conspiracy against Kashmir issue.
Criticizing the US policies, he said that the US, which was considered to be champion of human rights, should have exerted pressure on Indian leaders to stop grave human rights violations in occupied Kashmir.
Even Indian human rights organizations had identified mass graves in occupied valley while a number of women were dishonoured and youth were being killed there, he added.
He demanded investigation of all these crimes committed by Indian troops in occupied Kashmir.
Sultan expressed the confidence that the sacrifices of Kashmiris would not go waste and Kashmir would soon be free.
Sultan Mehmood, who was not holding any public office in the present set-up in Azad Kashmir, said that he believed in public service.
“I have been highlighting the longstanding Kashmir issue whenever I visit Britain, Europe, Middle East or the US,” he added.
He informed that during his forthcoming visits to China and Japan he would meet with Kashmiri and highlight the issue.
Earlier, Sultan Mehmood was warmly welcomed and pelted with rose petals as he arrived to address the public gathering.
