IHC dismisses plea against possible re-appointment of Dr Naqvi as ED, HEC

The Islamabad High Court on Monday dismissed a petition of two directors general of Higher Education Commission (HEC) against the possible reappointment of Dr Sohail Naqvi as executive director of the commission.

A single-member bench of IHC comprising Justice Muhammad Anwar Khan Kasi resumed the hearing of the petition, seeking direction to stop the expected re-appointment of Dr Sohail Naqvi as ED HEC.
During the course of hearing, Chaudhry Mushtaq, counsel for directors General of HEC, informed the court that their clients desired to withdraw the plea against Sohail Naqvi, cliaming that a new HEC executive director had been appointed by the commission.
The bench accepted the request and dismissed the petition as withdrawn.
It may be mentioned here that on last date of hearing, IHC had summoned the chairman of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) Dr Javaid Leghari, to appear before the court with all relevant record on January 21 (Monday).
Chuadhry Mushtaq had adopted before the court that the appointment process was likely to be finalized on Saturday and Sunday.
