SWABI - In a joint military operation of Pakistan Army and police, one militant was killed, two sustained serious injuries and a third one was arrested alive here on Sunday, said District Police Officer Abdul Rashid.
The operation was conducted in the congested Salim Khan village and the main target of the operation was Madressah Jawaher-ul-Quran, situated in the crowded area of village. Locals said that it was run by a well-known local religious figure, Maulana Mujtaba and other religious teachers of the area. However the locals said that they were not aware that how many outsiders were there.
Rashid said a militant was killed and another got injured in the encounter.
He said that they might belonged to Swat. He however said complete details would be received very soon.
The dead body of the killed militant was taken to the District Headquarters Hospital while the injured militant was also taken to the said hospital.
It has been learnt that Maulana Mujtaba along with two other teachers and 11 students of the madressah were taken into custody. Rashid said some people have been detained for interrogation by the police.
The locals said that the operation was started at about 4:00 pm and it continued till 6:00 pm. The names of the killed, injured and arrested militants were not immediately known.
