1122, CDG move to ensure building safety standards

RAWALPINDI – The Emergency Service, Rescue 1122 and City District Government (CDG), Rawalpindi has started move to ensure building safety standards in high-risk commercial buildings, particularly of factories and production units.

In this regard, a meeting was held here on Thursday at Rescue 1122, Central Station Rawal Road, Rawalpindi, which was chaired by District Emergency Officer, Rescue 1122, Dr Abdur Rahman.
The emergency officers, station coordinators of Rescue 1122, district officer Civil Defence, district officer Labour, district officer Enterprises and Industries Production, and tehsil municipal officers participated in the meeting to ensure fire safety standards in all high risk and high-rise buildings.
The house jointly discussed their responsibilities, limitation and collaboration areas for effective implementation. It has been decided that a joint team of three members form Rescue 1122, TMA, Civil Defence will conduct joint survey of Rawalpindi metropolis and identify factories and high-risk buildings.
Furthermore the survey team will jointly conduct a survey and get necessary information on building safety information checklist.
The last date for submitting survey report will be October 6.
The Emergency Service, Rescue 1122 will also hold a workshop for building inspectors of Tehsil Municipal Administration so that an effective survey could be conducted to collect authentic information.
The spokesperson of Rescue 1122 said public can also identify and inform about high-risk buildings/industries at 1124 to build safe communities and Rescue 1122 is always there to provide technical assistance and trainings in this regard.
