RAWALPINDI - The funeral payer of the Sub Inspector (SI) Azhar Hussain, who was deployed at Ratta checkpost and was murdered by unknown assailants last night, held at Police Lines here on Thursday.

Regional Police Officer (RPO) Capt (retd) Muhammad Zubair, City Police Officer (CPO) Azhar Hameed Khokher, SSP (Operations) Dr Akhter Abbas, City Traffic Officer (CTO) Syed Ishtiaq Hussain Shah, SP Potohar Division Syed Haseeb Shah, SP Rawal Division Chaudhry Hanif, SP Headquarters Israr Satti, DSP City Circle Umer Hayyat many other DSPs, SHOs and police officials attended the funeral prayer. Later, the dead body of the deceased was sent to his native village Sargodha where he was buried amid sobs and tears.
Talking to TheNation, DSP City Umer Hayyat said that SI Azhar Hussain was shot dead by three assailants soon after he left Ratta Chowky for his home at 11:45pm. He added that the deceased was riding a bike when he was intercepted by the attackers at a square very near to the check post.
 and started indiscriminate firing at him. In result, Azhar died on the spot.
“Azhar sustained seven bullet injuries,” the DSP said adding that a murder case has been registered against the killers while interrogation was also launched in the brutal murder.
