RAWALPINDI - The civic body has left pedestrians at the disposal of robbers and addicts at Sixth Road, Satellite Town Rawalpindi where installed streetlights are hardly ever seen lit.
These lights were basically set up to serve the purpose of security for residents of the area and visitors, both to protect the wanderer from tripping over something on the path as well as keeping the potential criminals at bay.
Despite of the dangers discussed above, these roadway lights never ever properly used sparingly although a particular situation justifies increasing the risk for the common people.
A large number of people (including natives and visitors) daily travel on foot at night through this road that is the main stretch to reach at the Murree road but it remains unlighted and increases the possibility of threats. “If it is desired to light a roadway perhaps to enhance the security of masses and to avoid the dangers of walkway users, placement of street lights not the solution until one will not turn these on at night,” said Ahsan, a native of the area.
Meanwhile, the locals of the area demanded the authorities to joint the connection of these lights to provide them road safety and security from increasing threats, as a large population residing on both sides of the road.
