ISLAMABAD - Islamabad police arrested 1,813 criminals during the current year and recovered a total of 42 vehicles, eight Kalashnikovs, 179 pistols, 128.842 kilograms hashish, 2,256 wine bottles, 29.216 kilogram heroin, 5.836 kilograms opium and stolen items worth Rs 85 million from their possession, a police spokesman said on Monday.
According to a press note issued from the office of Inspector General of Police Islamabad, a total of 1,813 criminals including 299 proclaimed offenders as well as court absconders were arrested during the current year.
During the ongoing year, Margallah police registered a total of 499 cases and arrested a total 274 criminals including 98 absconders. Margallah police also recovered 28 vehicles, 30 pistols, 2.701 kilograms hashish, and 591 wine bottles from them. Similarly, Shalimar police registered a total of 326 cases and arrested 188 criminals including 94 absconders besides recovering six vehicles, 12 pistols, 3.355 kilogram hashish, 414 wine bottles from them.
Likewise, Tarnol police registered 323 cases during the current year and arrested 254 criminals including 254 absconders. A total of two vehicles, 3 Kalashnikovs, 73 pistols, 80.216 kilograms hashish, 34 wine bottles, 4.396 kilogram opium and 26.434 kilograms heroin were also recovered by Shalimar police during this period.
Ensuring effective policing, Golra police registered 326 cases against criminals and arrested 189 persons including 55 absconders. Police also recovered three vehicles, three Kalashnikovs, 47 pistols, 34.955 kilograms hashish, 19 wine bottles, 2.870 grams heroin and 1.440 kilograms opium from their possession too.
Ramana police also contributed its efforts to ensure effective policing and registered a total of 347 cases against criminals. A total of 207 accused including 24 absconders were arrested besides recovery of three vehicles, two Kalashnikovs, 16 pistols, 4.615 kilograms hashish and 468 wine bottles from them.
Women police registered 82 cases during the current year and arrested 58 accused besides recovery of 410 wine bottles, one pistol and three kilograms hashish. Saddar Zone of Islamabad police also remained active to trace those culprits involved in theft, dacoity activities and recovered snatched as well as stolen valuables worth Rs. 85 million from their possession.
Investigation officers also completed probe on 1170 cases during this period and submitted their challan into relevant courts.IGP Islamabad Bani Amin Khan and SSP Islamabad Yaseen Farooq have appreciated this overall performance of Saddar Zone and directed all police officials to ensure effective steps to curb activities of anti-social elements and provide protection to the lives as well as property of the citizens.
