ISLAMABAD - Islamabad police on Wednesday claimed to have recovered stolen items worth more than Rs 90,132,500 during current year, besides resolving 220 cases successfully, a police spokesman said.

According to details, Islamabad police resolved a total of 220 theft and burglary cases and 127 accused were arrested, besides a total recovery of worth Rs 90,132,500 from them.
City Zone police arrested a total of 31 theft accused and 15 cases were resolved along with recovery worth Rs 730,000. Similarly, Saddar Zone resolved 28 theft cases and arrested 48 thieves, besides recovering stolen items worth Rs. 80972500 from them.
Likewise, Industrial area police successfully completed investigation on nine cases and arrested 12 thieves besides recovering stolen items worth Rs. 15,30,000 from them. Rural Zone Circle 14 cases and arrested 36 thieves along with recovery of Rs 8,655,000 from them.
Meanwhile on Wednesday, Margallah police Islamabad raided at the gambling den in G-9 Markaz and recovered valuables worth hundreds of thousands of rupees.
Police also arrested one Hameed who was running that gambling den, while four other gamblers identified as Abdul Ghaffar, Tariq Javed, Shaukat Ali and Maroof were also nabbed during this raid.
Meanwhile, Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) claimed providing help to 3880 road users whose vehicles were broken down on various roads of the city or they had faced any other problem like running out of fuel during current year.
Senior Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Dr Moeen Masood has said the ITP officers and jawans are working in the help unit to facilitate road users and provide them help in case of any emergency on roads.
He advised the road users, facing any problem, to call 1915, the help unit’s contact number, so that they could be provided immediate assistance.
He maintained that the policing was a service-providing job and every possible effort was being made for close liaison with the people.
