ISLAMABAD - Though a few parliamentarians have made the verification of their degrees a matter of ego, many have been visiting Higher Education Commission (HEC) for verification.According to information, seven more parliamentarians on Monday showed up for the verification of their degrees. And the HEC has cleared the degrees of total 35 MPs out of 249 whom the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has intimidated to get their degrees verified within 15 or else their degrees may be declared as fake and they won’t be able to contest elections. Federal Minister for Housing and Works Sardar Talib Nakai and MNA Zil-e-Huma have also verified their degrees. Theses MPs had not submitted their Metric and Intermediate certificates that is a prerequisite for the verification of Bachelor’s degree according to the set procedure of the HEC. The HEC besides its verification and attestation cell has assigned its few officials the verification of the degrees of only MPs. Those who produce original certificates of Metric and Intermediate get attested their degrees within no time but those who have lost their original certificates and produce photocopies will have to wait as the HEC sends their certificates to the respective boards for verification after that their Bachelor’s degrees would be verified.
